A complicated 20-step beauty regiment is not an option for me when always on the go and so I keep it minimal. I am not using any makeup these days (brow pencil being an exception), but I do carry my favorite skin care products with me at all times. This stuff is easy to use when staying in a hotel, hostel or even a tent. So these are the beauty goodies I can’t live without no matter what country I’m exploring:
• PETER THOMAS ROTH Irish Moor Mud Purifying Cleansing Gel
It is my go to facial cleanser and I am super impressed by how long this little bottle has lasted! I took this sample size gel with me on the trip to give it a try and instantly fell in love with it. It leaves my skin clean but doesn’t dry it out and it makes me glow thanks to Lactic and Salicylic Acids. It’s a little miracle in a bottle and it is made with organic 9,000 year-old black Moor Mud which is harvested by hand from the Irish countryside and combined with Hijiki Seaweed, Volcanic Ash and Activated Charcoal to remove impurities and toxins from my skin and help minimize the appearance of pores.
• REN Evercalm™ Global Protection Day Cream
Can’t live without it! This is my favorite moisturizer. It hydrates my face with bio-active ingredients like black currant and sea buckthorn berry oil while reducing irritation and redness, which my sensitive skin is prone to. I always carry a full size product with me because I use it religiously.
Bonus: it is vegan and cruelty free. Hello kitty !
Drunk Elephant T.L.C. Framboos™ Glycolic Night Serum
Whenever I notice my skin looking dull or need to look a little more dazzling the next day I apply this miracle worker before passing out in yet another random hostel bed and it works it’s magic while I sleep. This 12% AHA/BHA gel helps refine and resurface skin to reveal a smoother and more radiant looking complexion. I really love waking up with beautiful skin without making a mess of my pillow or looking like a ghost when going to the bathroom in the middle of the night (because who knows who you will meet on your way there). This product is invisible on my face and requires no washing off, making it remarkably easy to use.
• Supergoop! Perfect Day 2-in-1 SPF 50 & Mint Lip Shield SPF 30 Sunscreen
This one is a must for me. I keep it in my bag at all times no matter where I go and it has been a real life saver, especially while traveling in sunny Southeast Asia. You should always apply sunscreen before going outside, especially if you have used glycolic serum or any other scrub or peel the night before or you would get a sun burn and damage your skin. This baby also comes with SPF 30 lip balm in a secret cap compartment with a little mirror, so cute, I just can’t!
Bonus: it is formulated without: parabens, sulfates, phthalates; it is cruelty and allergy free, noncomedogenic, and formulated without oxybenzone and synthetic fragrance.
• FRESH Sugar Tinted Lip Treatment Sunscreen SPF 15
It has worked for me during nasty windy New York City winters when nothing seemed to be able to heal my chopped dry lips and so I am totally loyal to it. The beautiful thing about this balm is that it provides SPF protection from damaging UV rays and contains nourishing oils alongside antioxidant-rich vitamins to combat wrinkle-causing free radicals. This one is definitely a superstar!
Pro tip: stock up on samples, mini size or travel size products while back home if planning to travel. These are much easier to get through airport security (if not checking in your luggage) and are a much lighter load to carry around. I love my samples from all kinds of Korean skincare brands and use them when feeling like sparking up my beauty routine a bit.
• CELLFOOD
For beauty that shines from within, because you are healthy and vibrant, use these little drops. CELLFOOD is an oxygen based supplement with electrolytes, enzymes, amino acids and trace minerals sourced from seaweed. It helps me stay more active.
I always take a couple of bottles with me when traveling (they last a super long time but I like having two around, in different places). Because you have to add 8 drops to your water glass or bottle, it reminds me to hydrate.
It is designed to increase your energy, speed up detoxification and provide essential nutrients. Different people use it to treat different ailments (check out amazon reviews for that) but I use it because it improves my vitality and my life quality. I rely on this little miracle in a bottle to take care of any yeast related issues as well.
Warning: do not get it into your eyes, clothes or onto your skin. Because it is in concentrated form it would burn through some of the tissues. So maybe makes sense to label it: not eye drops...
I owe a little disclosure here: there are nights when I am simply too busy or too tired to wash my face and moisturize or brush my teeth and so my skin doesn’t always look as good as it could. But when I am on top of my skin regiment, I see a huge difference in just a couple of days. These are products I know I can depend on and so I stocked up on them before the trip. In the long run it saved me money and time because I am not wasting hours and dollars in cosmetic stores buying products that might or might not work.
