The name Beds in Garden Hostel definitely conveys the main idea behind its design: everywhere you look there is natural light and tropical plants. The owner, Yong designed this place herself. She knows every pipe, screw and every bolt in here. This is a great example of what happens when girls get into construction & design.
The main minimalistic structure is all concrete with even the smallest details thought through. For example, your mattress won’t slide away because there is a little concrete nook holding it in place. The double beds dorm petitions are also concrete and not some flimsy plywood.
The skinny green outdoor spaces that cut through the monolithic structure provide the building with lightness and bring the exterior natural elements visually on the inside through huge glass cutouts. Something that Frank Lloyd Wright was definitely a fan of!
As a result, we felt comfortable staying here and working on our laptops for hours. We stayed in Ipoh longer than expected because we loved staying at Beds in Garden so much. It was too comfortable to leave.
